The Golden Globes were last night, and although I didn’t really care that much about who won or lost (except for Glee!) I did care about what everyone was wearing. Here are my picks for the good, the bad, and the ugly of last night’s festivities:
The Good:
I loved Sandra Bullock. I thought she looked stunning in purple and her accessories were perfect.

January Jones looked gorgeous in a black headband, and I love the elevated shoulder.

Kate Hudson wowed in this white gown and killer platforms.

The Bad:
In a different color, Nicole Kidman’s dress would have been lovely. But this champagne color on her does not work.

I didn’t quite understand Julianne Moore’s ensemble. The way the dress hangs is completely unflattering, and the off-the-shoulder look is just a little too off-the-shoulder.

The Ugly:
Just once I would like to see Mariah Carey in something a little less porn star. We get it, girl: You love your boobs!

My best-dressed cast goes to the charming actors of Glee. They all looked fabulous, and their genuine shock and appreciation when they won made me glad to be a Glee fan.

Who were your favorites? And who did you think should have taken a much longer look in the mirror before heading out?

The 2010 awards season is upon us, and with that comes the 2010 awards season fashion. Countless knock-offs will be forged in the coming months, and hours of material for the next season of The Rachel Zoe Project are no doubt being filmed as I type this.
Last year, the Golden Globes gave us these fabulous frocks:

January Jones

Anne Hathaway

Eva Mendes
Who are you looking forward to seeing at the Golden Globes tonight? And almost as importantly: Who is going to look like a train wreck?

America’s sweetheart has done it again. Carrie Underwood wowed at the People’s Choice Awards in this fabulous Christian Cota dress.

But as killer as this dress is, it’s the shoes that really caught my eye. (surprise! surprise!) These lovelies from Rock & Republic really make this outfit standout. And Underwood does a great job of keeping the rest of the outfit simple so the shoes and dress get all the attention.
Most of Rock & Republic’s shoes have a price tag of over $300, so try some of these from Steve Madden that have a similar look:

Both of these shoes can be found here.

Oh, J. Lo, what have you done? I mean, I certainly give you credit for getting back into shape after giving birth to twins at age 38, but this ensemble doesn’t really say, “Classy mother of 2.” No. It says something more like, “Desperately seeking to show off post-baby body with little regard for taste or the well-being of the eyesight of those watching.”
I get it JLo: You’re hot. No need to dress up in a catsuit that makes your nether-regions look like those of a Ken doll. And no need to EVER wear something like that again. Really.

I really don’t even know where to begin with this outfit:

The awful high-waisted pants. The cropped jacket. The black bra under the sheer white top. Her mess of hair. Or the fact that InStyle thought this was the best Look of the Day.
I think the pants are the worst part of this ensemble. I’m having flashbacks of the days when I use to play bingo with my grandmother. I can see one of those little old ladies sporting these pants with an “I Love My Grandkids” sweatshirt. I actually like the cropped jacket, and I don’t mind the sheer white top with black bra. But put it all together and you’ve got yourself one hot mess.
So what’s your opinion? Would you rock this look?

I love Sarah Jessica Parker. The girl (for the most part) can do no wrong in my book. But this look at her latest movie premiere completely missed the mark:

I don’t really mind the color combo of pink and purple…although it does send 80s flashbacks screaming through my head. And I love the snake necklace.
But the short, tight dress is just so, well, short and tight. It looks like something you would see on your typical club-going twenty-something. You know, like Britney Spears.
Of course, all fashionistas are entitled to a few mistakes, and people who take risks like SJP generally have more than their fair share. And who knows? Maybe this look will make an appearance in one of those 80s flashbacks in the new “Sex and the City” movie.

What do you get when you mix a DJ, an architect, a choreographer, and whole hodge-podge of other people? A mess of a tv show, that’s what!
In yet another vein attempt to recapture that Project Runway vibe, Bravo has created another fashion-related show: Launch My Line. You may recall that Bravo tried this once before with The Fashion Show, and while the show was no Project Runway, it was DEFINITELY better than this new endeavor.
On Launch My Line, contestants who aren’t necessarily in the fashion industry are paired with fashion “experts” to create designs based on various challenges. Yes. That’s right. People who aren’t in the fashion industry. Some of the people don’t even know how to sew!
Check out this week’s designs here.
The show is hosted by the boys of DSquared, and they make fabulous shoes like these, so I can’t imagine why they would want their names attached to this show.

Did you watch the show? Are you going to tough it out for a few more episodes or, like me, just wait until next month with Project Runway returns to hopefully save us all?

I usually drool over the new Manolos, but this collection less than dazzled me. There aren’t any shoes from the collection that I can’t live without…and that makes me a little sad. (Although it makes my husband VERY happy!)
Here’s a sampling from the new collection sold at Neiman Marcus:

There all just a little too subdued for my taste, but I’m sure there are lots of women out there who would love these. Manolo Blahnik is definitely more well known for the classic shoes than the show-stopping, center-of-attention shoes Louboutin makes.
But I will say that I’m blessed to own a pair of both Manolos and Louboutins and I actually wear the Manolos far more often. Maybe I’m more of a classic kind of girl than I think…

It would appear my obsession with sequins knows no end seeing as I just acquired this lovely sequin blazer by Silence and Noise:

You may also recall that I recently purchases a pair of sequin shorts from Express. Now, don’t worry. I promise not to wear the two together. I wouldn’t want to wind up looking like a Christmas tree…or Sienna Miller in this mess of a suit:

The blazer will glam up a normally casual outfit for a night out. Try it with boyfriend jeans, a very understated neutral shirt and bright pumps. It would also look great with a mini-skirt or knee-length dress.
Just make sure you keep the rest of your outfit fairly simple; otherwise people may start hanging ornaments from your ears!

After watching Lady Gaga on Ellen today, I started searching the internet for some of her most fantastic ensembles. Here’s just a sampling of why I love Lady Gaga:

There’s no question Lady Gaga is a bit on the wacky side, but I’ve got to give it to the girl: Anyone who is brave enough to not only wear these crazy outfits—but pull them off for the most part—gets respect from me. I find many of her outfits artistic in a way. And fortunately the girl has actual musical talent!
Otherwise there’s a good chance she’d be filed with the likes of Bjork in her swan dress orBai Ling in, well, anything.
